Same old story from Oregon’s Commission for the Blind Administrator, Linda Mock, after not one, not two, but three bad audits regarding fiscal accountability of state funds.
Change needs to occur – Ms. Mock deserves no more chances as she is a black mark on the visually-impaired community who utilizes the services of the Commission for the Blind.

I am an advocate for the visually-impaired of Oregon and joined the protestors on Friday, December 16, 2011 in front of the Oregon Commission for the Blind office in Portland. I wholeheartedly agree that Ms. Mock has to be removed from office. She doesn’t deserve to be in charge of State or Federal funds.
The time is NOW for a change in this government position after three (3) bad state audits…. No more talk, Ms. Mock.

Ms. Mock, Admnistrator for Oregon Commission for the Blind, needs to leave her position. Any governmental employee who is not performing their position after not one, not two, but three negative state audits regarding fiscal accountibility no longer deserves anymore excuses! Save yourself some dignity, Ms. Mock, and resign gracefully. Happy Holidays.
My inside sources tell me that Linda Mock gave Karen Mc Donald $50,000 to develop a D.V.D. for the blind?
Also after the $50,000 gift Karin was rejected by the state of CA. for a job. “Not qualified” I am told?
Now Ms Mc Donald is her personal secretary.
Is any one watching the store?
It’s no wonder that folks are protesting out side , for some one to fix the problem. THREE BAD AUDITS!!. When is enough enough.
I’ve received assistance from OCB and, as such, have been in a position to experience it. To some extent, it does help; I recevied real help when I lost my vision to obtain accomodation materials, and during my recent unemployment received training and other assistance. However, I’ve noticed a pattern of cookie-cutter approaches to situations and a tendency to throw money at a person so as to seem to be doing something.

OCB, although providing some base assistance to blind people, is out of touch with the needs of today’s population of visually impaired people. They seem not to really believe in their clients, provide very few real skills that can translate to independence in the outside world of competitive employment and have extremely low expectations of blind people. There are commissions out there that do it right, it is a shame that they can’t emulate them. Instead, they seem more concerned about keeping their jobs and the status quo instead of real change. The place is in dire need of new blood, new leadership, and that leadership, quite frankly, should be made of competent, independent blind people. They are afraid of high caliber blind leadership, because I think it would take their control away or something. It is a shame. They could be a vibrant, energetic center for people with visual impairments to get good skills training and be a launching pad to go off into the world of competitive employment and independent life. Instead, they remain stuck in the old, antiquated mindset of the poor, pitiful blind person who can’t do anything for themselves.
