People have filed Tylenol lawsuits against drugmaker Johnson & Johnson because of the drug’s serious alleged side effects. According to a June 9 Star-Ledger report, the company has petitioned for all 14 New Jersey lawsuits to be consolidated under one judge in Middlesex County.* The Rottenstein Law Group LLP, which represents clients in lawsuits filed against the Tylenol maker for liver damage, notes that centralization of cases into a “multicounty litigation” is a relatively standard way to streamline the pretrial proceedings of multiple statewide lawsuits with common causes for suit.
“It’s not uncommon for a party to request a change to a venue it deems more accommodating,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP.
